Qantas Flight 72 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Singapore to Perth, Australia, that experienced an uncontained engine failure on November 4, 2010. The Airbus A380 aircraft, registered VH-OQA, was carrying 469 passengers and crew. The failure of the aircraft's number two Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine caused extensive damage to the wing and fuselage, but the pilots were able to safely return to Singapore Changi Airport after declaring an emergency.
