Before the Mets, Steve Cohen Was the Hedge-fund King

Before becoming the owner of the New York Mets, Steve Cohen was a highly successful hedge fund manager. He founded SAC Capital Advisors in 1992, and under his leadership, the firm grew to become one of the most profitable hedge funds in the world. Cohen's investment strategies were often complex and involved using statistical models and computer algorithms to identify trading opportunities. In 2013, SAC Capital Advisors was convicted of insider trading and agreed to pay a record $1.8 billion fine. Cohen himself was not charged with any wrongdoing, but he agreed to a two-year ban from managing outside money.
