America's War on Drugs, characterized by aggressive policing, strict sentencing, and SWAT raids, has demonstrably failed in achieving its intended objectives. Despite decades of heavy-handed enforcement, drug use and trafficking remain pervasive, while the human cost has been staggering. SWAT raids, often conducted with excessive force and disregard for civil liberties, have resulted in innocent people being killed or injured. The disproportionate impact of drug arrests and convictions on minority communities has exacerbated existing social and economic inequalities. Moreover, the harsh sentences meted out for nonviolent drug offenses have led to mass incarceration, straining the criminal justice system and tearing families apart.
