NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft are the new cutting-edge technologies that will transport people to Mars. The SLS, the largest and most powerful rocket ever developed, can lift 70 metric tons to lunar orbit. The Orion spacecraft will carry astronauts to and from the lunar gateway, where they will conduct research and prepare for missions to Mars. Advanced life support systems, radiation shielding, and propulsion technologies are also being developed to enable long-term human missions to Mars.
