Adolf Eichmann, a high-ranking Nazi official, played a central role in the Holocaust, the systematic extermination of millions of Jews during World War II. He was responsible for organizing the transportation of Jews from across Europe to Nazi concentration and extermination camps. After the war, Eichmann escaped to Argentina, where he lived under an assumed name. In 1960, he was captured by Israeli agents and brought to Israel to stand trial. The trial, which was broadcast live around the world, captivated audiences and shed light on the horrors of the Holocaust. Eichmann was found guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death. He was executed in 1962.
