Gangs of Britain: Glasgow

Glasgow, a city in Scotland, has had a long history of gang culture, with organized crime syndicates deeply embedded in the city's fabric. One of the most notorious gangs, the Glasgow Crime Syndicate, emerged in the early 20th century, controlling illegal activities ranging from prostitution to extortion. In the 1960s, a new wave of gangs, known as the "Glasgow Tongs," gained prominence, engaging in violent turf wars and criminal enterprises. Recently, Asian organized crime groups, such as the "Triads," have become increasingly active in Glasgow, engaging in drug trafficking, illegal gambling, and human smuggling. Despite efforts by law enforcement to crack down on gang activity, Glasgow continues to grapple with the impact of gang violence and the associated social problems it brings.
