Alfred the Great - Saviour of the Saxons

Alfred the Great, King of Wessex from 871 to 899, is widely regarded as the savior of the Saxons. During his reign, he successfully defended his kingdom against the invading Vikings, who had overrun much of England. Alfred's military prowess, combined with his administrative and educational reforms, helped to unify the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and lay the foundation for a more centralized and prosperous England. He is also credited with promoting literacy and scholarship, earning him the title "Alfred the Great." His legacy as a wise and capable ruler continues to inspire generations of Britons.
