Joan of Arc - Maid of Orleans

Joan of Arc, the legendary Maid of Orleans, stands as an iconic figure in French history. Born in 1412, she experienced visions from God and, at the age of 17, claimed to be divinely inspired to lead the French army against the English during the Hundred Years' War. Donning armor and carrying a banner, Joan led the French to several decisive victories, including the Battle of Orleans in 1429. Despite her military prowess, she was eventually captured and condemned as a heretic by the English and their French allies. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431 at the age of 19, but her legacy as a symbol of French nationalism and resilience continues to inspire generations.
