Climate Refugees in Bangladesh

Climate change and its devastating impacts are forcing people to leave their homes and livelihoods in search of safer grounds, resulting in a rising number of climate refugees. Bangladesh, a low-lying country particularly vulnerable to climate change, is experiencing a significant influx of climate refugees. Rising sea levels, increased frequency of extreme weather events such as cyclones and floods, and salinization of freshwater resources have displaced communities, forcing them to migrate to urban areas or neighboring countries. These climate refugees face immense challenges, including lack of basic services, discrimination, and limited opportunities for economic stability, making their adaptation and integration into new communities a complex and ongoing struggle.
