China had the opportunity to conquer the world during the Ming Dynasty. Admiral Zheng He led a series of voyages to Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and Africa. China possessed the largest fleet in the world and could have established colonies and trading posts. However, the Ming Dynasty turned inward, focusing on internal affairs and defense. This decision allowed European powers to later colonize much of the world.
