Strong Island

Strong Island is a 2017 American documentary film directed by Yance Ford. The film explores the life and death of Ford's brother, William Ford Jr., a 24-year-old black man who was killed by Mark Fuhrman, a white police officer, in 1992. The film interweaves archival footage, home videos, and interviews with Ford's family and friends to create a powerful and moving portrait of a life cut short. Strong Island also examines the history of racial injustice in the United States and the ways in which the criminal justice system fails black people. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.
