The Exodus of Tibetan Children

The Exodus of Tibetan Children refers to the flight of thousands of young Tibetans across the Himalayas to India and Nepal in the aftermath of the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950. Between 1959 and 1960, an estimated 30,000 Tibetan children made the perilous journey over treacherous mountain passes to escape the harsh conditions and oppression in Tibet. Led by their teachers and guardians, these young refugees braved extreme weather, starvation, and the threat of capture or death to seek freedom and education in exile. Their exodus became a symbol of the Tibetan people's indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to preserving their culture and identity in the face of adversity.
