These challenges included the rise of powerful regional kingdoms such as the Deccan Sultanates, the growing influence of European traders, and a series of natural disasters and famines. Despite these challenges, the Vijayanagara emperors fought valiantly to defend their empire, and their legacy continues to inspire modern-day Indians. The last emperor of Vijayanagara, Tirumala Deva Raya, died in 1578, and the empire was conquered by the Deccan Sultanates soon after.
