In a daring escape attempt during the Cold War, a young East German man named Harald Jäger made a desperate bid for freedom. Determined to break through the heavily guarded border between East Germany and Bulgaria, Jäger planned to swim across the Maritsa River, which marked the boundary between the two countries. However, his hopes were shattered when he was spotted by a vigilant Bulgarian border guard, who promptly apprehended him and put an end to his escape attempt, leaving Jäger to face the consequences of his actions.
