Right-wing Populists and the EU

Right-wing populists have been highly critical of the European Union (EU), often characterizing it as a bureaucratic, undemocratic institution that infringes upon national sovereignty. They argue that the EU's open borders policies have led to an influx of immigrants, straining public services and threatening national identity. Additionally, they see the EU as a threat to traditional values and cultural norms. Furthermore, right-wing populists accuse the EU of being too powerful and centralized, calling for more autonomy for member states. Their skepticism towards the EU has contributed to the rise of Euroscepticism and anti-immigration sentiments, leading to the support for right-wing populist parties in many European countries.
